This watercolour depicts the Maritime “Maritem” District in the port of Rotterdam. The outline of some of the city’s buildings, which includes many spires, is shown against the skyline.
Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands, after the national capital of Amsterdam. It is in the Province of South Holland and has a rich maritime history which would have appealed to this artist.
